Agent fees: Chelsea and London City Lionesses lead the pride in WSL, Championship
Women’s leagues included in FA agent fee data for first time.
Chelsea and London City Lionesses were the highest spenders on agent fees in their respective leagues, the Football Association has revealed.
Chelsea topped the Women’s Super League (WSL) with an expenditure of £622,604 between 2 February 2024 and 2 February 2025, while London City Lionesses led the Women's Championship with spending of £105,885.
Both teams top the standings in their respective leagues and have spent more than twice as much as the second-highest spenders.
The FA has included the WSL and Championship clubs for the first time in its annual report on payments and transactions involving clubs and football agents.
Overall, WSL clubs spent £2.1 million on agent fees, more than seven times as much as Championship clubs.
Chelsea’s spending aligns with the men’s team, who also lead the Premier League with a staggering expenditure of £60 million on agent fees.
While the men’s team fights for a Champions League spot, the women’s team will be aiming to clinch their sixth consecutive WSL trophy this season.
The Blues will also face Manchester United in the Women’s FA Cup final on 18 May.
